The Green Bay Packers didn’t roll past the Cincinnati Bengals like some people expected them to do.
However, a win is a win, and they took care of business down the stretch.
That’s why Moe Moton of Bleacher Report bumped them up from No. 6 all the way to No. 3 in his weekly power rankings:
“In Week 6, the Green Bay Packers faced a more competitive Cincinnati Bengals squad than the team that lost in three consecutive blowouts. The Packers didn’t win style points with their victory, but they’re one of the league’s most balanced clubs with Jordan Love distributing the ball in the passing game, a strong ground attack led by Josh Jacobs and a defense that’s top five in yards allowed,” Moton wrote.
The bar is clearly higher for the Packers.
This team is built to win a Super Bowl, and given how much the Cincinnati Bengals have struggled, it only made sense that they were favored by double digits.
Even so, as much as the Packers had probably prepared to face Jake Browning and not Joe Flacco, they were much better than one might tell by the numbers.
One of the Bengals’ touchdowns came with a spectacular reception from Ja’Marr Chase that would’ve been an incomplete pass with 99 percent of wide receivers.
Also, Jordan Love’s interception came after an unlucky bounce; it wasn’t a bad throw or a bad decision.
All things considered, the Packers have fared quite well, given all the injuries they’ve had to deal with over the course of the season.
Expectations will continue to be high, and as such, head coach Matt LaFleur might not always be judged fairly.
It seems like winning is not enough, and the Packers are always asked to dominate.
For the time being, they’re 3-1-1 and have already beaten one of the best teams in the NFC, so maybe it’s not time to sound the alarms.
