The Green Bay Packers are pretty set for the future, at least for the most part.
However, they still need to think about their offensive line.
They have some foundations to build around for years to come, but players like Elgton Jenkins might not be there next season.
With that in mind, Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department tied them to three potential OL prospects from the 2026 NFL Draft.
In their latest column, citing all teams’ top draft needs, they chose Penn State’s Olaivavega Ioane, Duke’s Brian Parker II, and Boston College’s Logan Taylor as potential targets for GM Brian Gutekunst:
“It will be interesting to see how the Packers approach their guard spot in the offseason. It’s one of the team’s biggest weaknesses right now, partially because free-agent signing Aaron Banks has underperformed. According to Over The Cap, Green Bay could save $18.1 million in cap space by making him a post-June 1 cut this spring. So, it’s worth keeping tabs on this year’s interior offensive line prospects, and there have been a few risers on B/R’s big board since the last time the position was discussed. One of the biggest is the Penn State product listed above,” BR NFL Draft Scouting Dept. wrote.
Of course, the Packers won’t have a first-round selection in next year’s draft because they traded theirs to the Dallas Cowboys to get Micah Parsons, so their chances of getting Ioane are quite slim at the time.
They can certainly get their hands on the others, though.
The Packers struggled with subpar pass protection and even worse run-blocking early in the season.
Losing Zach Tom and Aaron Banks with injuries and watching Jenkins struggle to make the transition to center hurt the team in the first month.
That hasn’t been the case since they’re back to full strength.
Nevertheless, this unit might look a little different after this season.
Football games are won in the trenches, and this team needs to make sure that Jordan Love will have a clean pocket and enough time and space to operate, so it certainly makes sense to add more talent to the offensive line.
