While Oneil Cruz, one of the early favorites to win the National League Rookie of the Year Award, may not win it at this point, he still is an exciting young player and is somebody that Pittsburgh Pirates fans can look forward to seeing play in the future as he helps usher in the next generation of young talent.
His bat has yet to come along, as he’s hitting .198 on the season.
But during the Bucs series opener against the Atlanta Braves, Cruz gave Pirates fans what could be a nice glimpse into the future as he took Jake Odorizzi deep for his 10th home run of the season.

Cruz Shows Off His Power
The average is still coming along, but Cruz is showing off some tremendous power, and he gave Pirates fans a reason to be excited last night.
He is one of the many young players that could be a part of the next great Pirates team.
He sure generated some buzz around Pittsburgh with his home run last night.
It was a high, towering drive that got the Bucs on the board and breathed a little life into the crowd.
Cruz is one of the young pieces that the Pirates could build around in the future.
He’s certainly turning some heads and getting Pirates fans excited for what the future might hold.
Having him in the same lineup as Bryan Reynolds, Kevin Newman, and Ke’Bryan Hayes is exciting enough for Pirates fans.
This kid has a bright future and could be the key to the next great team in Pittsburgh.
We’ll see if he can hit some more home runs and continue to ignite a little hope for Bucs fans.
