The young Oklahoma City Thunder never cease to amaze.
According to Legion Hoops, they’re currently on the verge of setting an NBA-record for the highest free-throw percentage (85.2% as a team).

Just last year, they looked one piece away from becoming a legitimate threat in the Western Conference, and that piece was there already.
Adding Chet Holmgren to that mix has taken their defense to a whole new level, and his shot-making also opens up plenty of space for their offense.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a legitimate two-way superstar, knocking down shots from all three levels, getting stops, creating for others, and thriving in the clutch.
Jalen Williams has also been ahead of schedule already, and with Josh Giddey’s playmaking and Luguentz Dortz’s three-and-D expertise, Mark Daigneault’s team could be very dangerous come playoff time.
Of course, they’re still quite young and will make mistakes, but this team has already gone toe-to-toe with some of the best in the league, and they’re not afraid or will back down from anybody.
It’s been a while since the OKC Thunder was a legitimate NBA championship contender, but it seems like we’re on the verge of watching them blossom and take the rest of the league by storm, just like it happened at the beginning of the Kevin Durant-Russell Westbrook era.
Hopefully, they’ll be able to do what those guys couldn’t, going the distance and taking care of business on the biggest stage.
Props to Sam Presti for staying patient and putting this team together.
