The 2024-25 NBA season hasn’t even started yet but the Denver Nuggets are already dealing with injury issues.
Shams Charania has reported that DaRon Holmes II, the No. 22 overall pick in the draft, has suffered a torn right Achilles tendon and will miss his entire rookie season.
Holmes injured himself on Friday during the team’s Summer League game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

During his Summer League debut, Holmes had 11 points and 7 rebounds in just 25 minutes, showing a lot of promise and getting Nuggets fans excited for what he can do in the regular season.
Sadly, they will now have to wait more than a year to see what he is capable of.
The Nuggets traded up in the draft to pick Holmes, a center out of Dayton.
During his final season in college, he averaged 20.4 points and 8.5 rebounds and the Nuggets wanted to place him in the rotation behind MVP Nikola Jokic.
Now they will have to figure out someone else who can give their iconic big man the support and rest he will need throughout the season.
The Nuggets were looking to improve, albeit slightly, during the offseason, especially after they lost celebrated shooter Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
They are still capable of great things, even without Caldwell-Pope and Holmes, but some fans are nervous about the season ahead.
The Nuggets were taken out of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round and will be facing an even tougher Western Conference next year.
Will they be able to overcome their opponents and make their way to the Finals?
Losing Holmes hurts, especially so close to the departure of Caldwell-Pope, but the Nuggets are still hoping for an exciting 2024-25.
