Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets was back in fine form on Thursday night for his first game of the season.
He posted 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists during his team’s tight overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors.
He may not have walked away with a victory, but he did earn another place in NBA history.
“Nikola Jokic is now tied with Oscar Robertson for the most triple-doubles (4) in season openers,” per StatMuse.

Another triple-double from Jokic isn’t shocking at all, because this is just what he does.
Last season, he averaged 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists, and the year before that, he barely missed a triple-double average with 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists.
This goes to show what a dominant player he is in multiple ways.
It doesn’t matter if he is trying to create his own points, score rebounds, or find his other players for assists; Jokic can do it all.
He is a one-man team and a threat, no matter who he is playing against.
The problem has been that the team built around him hasn’t been strong enough for years.
Jokic has been consistent, but Denver’s roster hasn’t been able to support him enough.
That may be changing because the Nuggets spent the summer bringing in newcomers and returning favorites who can give Jokic the help he needs.
With that being said, they lost their first game, and there are worries about how difficult the West will be this year.
It won’t be easy, but the Nuggets always have a chance, especially with Jokic consistently producing triple-doubles.
