Not a lot of people were surprised when Nike announced that they were officially cutting ties with Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets.
The relationship between Irving and Nike was likely going to end naturally anyway but the recent controversy around the Nets star only ensured that the shoe company was done with him.
But just because Nike is washing its hands of Irving doesn’t mean they aren’t looking to create new relationships with other NBA stars.

More From Morant
Nike only wants to be associated with the biggest and best athletes in the world.
Therefore, it makes perfect sense that they’d be fostering a collaboration with Morant.
The Grizzlies guard is something special with a current season average of 21.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 7.2 assists.
Over the last few years, the Grizzlies have grown into a powerhouse in the West and Morant has been a major part of their resurgence.
Because of his hard work, he has earned an All-Star appearance and recently was named the 2021-22 Most Improved Player Award.
No one is really sure what Morant’s Nike product will look like but we can bet that it will be very successful, just like him.
