The Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t exactly what you would call a powerhouse in the National Football League, but they’ve taken several steps in the right direction over the past couple of years.
It all started when they took Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 pick, a guy who seemed like a ‘can’t-miss’ kind of talent and the closest prospect we had ever seen to the legendary Peyton Manning.
And — just like Manning — his career didn’t get off to a good start, looking lost and quite raw.
To be fair, that rookie season did come under HC Urban Meyer, so it wasn’t like he was put in a position to succeed.
That’s why, now that he’s set to enter his second year working with Doug Pederson, Nick Wright believes that he’s due for a monster third season.

Wright pointed out the fact that the Jaguars are coming off an outstanding second half of last season, even winning their division and a playoff game.
He also pointed out that their schedule for next season is perhaps one of the easiest in the league, going as far as to predict that they could win 13 games last season, mostly because they don’t have back-to-back tough games all year long.
Lawrence proved that he could put up big numbers last season, and having an easy schedule, an improved WR corps, and another year working under the same system lays the groundwork for him to have an MVP-caliber season.
Also, it’s not like we haven’t seen multiple young QBs either win MVP or be in the conversation in their second or third year.
