Over the past few years, many would argue that it has been a two-man race for the distinction of the best quarterback in the NFL, with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen sometimes being neck and neck in the discussion.
However, Mahomes has proven time and time again that he is the best quarterback in the league, with Allen needing to find some playoff success in order to legitimately be in the same discussion for the league’s elite leader under center.
Heading into the 2023 NFL season, the pressure will be on for Allen to prove his worth, as he will once again attempt to get the Buffalo Bills to the Super Bowl with Mahomes and many other talented quarterbacks in the AFC standing in his way.
Nick Wright of Fox Sports makes the case that if Allen is genuinely the fifth or sixth-best quarterback in the league, the Bills won’t have a chance moving forward via First Things First.
"How good is Josh Allen? … If he's actually the 5th or 6th best QB in the league, the Bills don't have a chance. This Bills team is not otherwise good enough." — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/jDTCeT4xeN

Although there are plenty of talented quarterbacks in the league today, like Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts and Mahomes, it’s hard to argue that there are four or five players at the position that are better than Allen at this point.
In 2020, the Bills got incredibly close to advancing to the Super Bowl with Allen at the helm but fell short in the AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Even though the Chiefs seem to have the Bills’ number, Allen has made this team competitive every single year and will likely do the same in 2023, but it remains to be seen whether he can get them over the top.
