The reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs are looking like the favorites to repeat as they’ve got most of their core returning for the 2023 season.
The biggest piece of the puzzle is obviously Patrick Mahomes who gives the Chiefs an advantage every week at the quarterback position.
Through his short career, Mahomes has already proven to be one of the greatest players of all time and could conceivably get better as he gets older and more experienced.
While the Chiefs have been a juggernaut with Mahomes under center, the rest of the AFC has started to close the gap with teams like the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals boasting their own star quarterbacks in Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, respectively.
As far as his own division the AFC West goes, though, Mahomes has dominated them en route to several division titles.
For that reason, Nick Wright had no problem calling Mahomes the greatest ever via First Things First.
Best Record vs. Own Division:
1. Mahomes: .900 vs. AFCW
2. McMahon: .828 vs. NFCC
3. Young: .804 vs. NFCW
4. Brady: .804 vs. AFCE
5. Tarkenton: .798 vs. NFCC
6. Dak: .794 vs. NFCE"Patrick Mahomes is the best ever." — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/CMLigqHa9S

Wright illustrates just how good Mahomes has been against the AFC West when he notes that he’s 11-0 against the Denver Broncos, 9-1 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and 7-2 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With a win percentage like that against his own division, Mahomes and Kansas City should always feel confident about guaranteeing a playoff spot every year.
With two Super Bowl rings and several other accolades already on his resume, Wright might not be too far off when calling Mahomes the best quarterback to play in the NFL.
However, a couple more championships would solidify his standing and his place in league history.
