There have been several surprise teams across the NFL this season, and not all of them have been in a positive way.
There were some who felt the Chicago Bears had a real shot at making the playoffs after they made a flurry of moves during the offseason, which included selecting quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
They also traded for veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen and drafted promising wideout Rome Odunze with the No. 9 overall pick.
But instead of making a charge toward the postseason, the Bears have posted a 4-10 record and are out of playoff contention.
FOX Sports host Nick Wright recently admitted that he was wrong about the Bears and elaborated on how he feels about Williams.
“I feel like I was obviously dead wrong about the Bears. I don’t feel like I was dead wrong about Caleb,” Wright said on “First Things First.”
“I feel like I was obviously dead wrong about the Bears, I don’t feel like I was dead wrong about Caleb.”

Williams has plenty of natural talent, but some of his flaws may have been exposed, and Wright pointed out a lack of aggression from the rookie.
After starting 4-2, the Bears have since gone on an eight-game losing streak, and interestingly, Williams hasn’t thrown an interception during the skid.
That may sound like a positive statistic, but Wright said it means Williams may be too scared to let it fly and allow himself to make the occasional mistake that could provide a teachable moment.
Chicago has had other problems, which led to Matt Eberflus getting fired as head coach following an egregious case of clock mismanagement during its Thanksgiving Day loss to the Detroit Lions.
The pieces seem to be there, however, and perhaps Williams just needs a little bit of seasoning and guidance.
