The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with a crucial injury at the worst possible time.
They just signed Ian Book to their practice squad.
He will join Tanner McKee atop the depth chart if Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett cannot go against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Hurts left the loss vs. the Washington Commanders with a concussion, and Pickett is reportedly dealing with a rib injury.
He was listed as a limited participant in practice.
When asked about availability on Sunday, HC Nick Sirianni was rather silent, stating that “they’ll see” if he can go (via Eliot Shorr-Parks).

Book has made one start in his NFL career.
It took place three years ago with the New Orleans Saints.
He was with the Eagles’ practice squad in 2022.
McKee will most likely be the third-stringer, even with Book’s addition.
The Eagles took him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has yet to make an appearance.
Hurts is currently under the concussion protocol, so his availability for Sunday looks in serious jeopardy.
If cleared to play, Pickett would make his first start with the Eagles after being traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason.
He finished the heartbreaking loss to the Commanders with 14 completions on 24 attempts for 143 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
And while he’s a much better player than the average backup quarterback, he’s still a major downgrade compared to Hurts, who could be shut down for the regular season to keep him safe for the playoffs.
