Derek Carr‘s three-year, $121.5 million contract extension proves that the Las Vegas Raiders aren’t afraid to spend money on deserving players.
They started their spending spree by giving defensive end Maxx Crosby a four-year, $98 million extension.
Las Vegas also acquired Chandler Jones on a three-year, $51 million deal.
Finally, the Raiders brought in All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams on a five-year, $141.25 million deal.
But Carr’s extension proves that the Raiders, especially new head coach Josh McDaniels, believe in him.
After all, trading away Marcus Mariota to the Atlanta Falcons was an indication that they would go all in on Carr.
While there’s no word yet regarding the guaranteed amount from his contract, football experts quickly point out an essential part of his deal.
For those who are not fans of Derek Carr and are constantly looking for veiled signs he will be traded, he has a NO TRADE CLAUSE. He isn't going anywhere.

His extension ties him with the Raiders until the 2025 season, and he will be in Las Vegas for all of those years unless he waives this clause.
Even after Carr got paid, he still has some naysayers.
However, this Twitter user quickly defended the former Fresno State standout.
Derek Carr has caught some crap over the years, but to be honest, he’s really good at what he does. Good leader, nice arm, has a nice command in the huddle. I still think he gets a Super Bowl at some point. Particularly with what they’ve added recently.

But as some sort of warning, the NFL on CBS posted this tweet hours before Carr, and the Raiders agreed to terms.

Carr did finish fifth in passing yards last season with 4,804 and collected 23 touchdowns.
But the veteran quarterback also threw 14 interceptions, including one during their Wild Card Weekend loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Lamar Jackson Gets A Bag, Too
Carr’s three-year contract extension will have a ripple effect on other quarterbacks seeking their second deal, particularly Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson.

If Carr can get an annual average value of above $40 million, what more for a former league MVP with two 1,000-yard rushing seasons?
Last season, Jackson also played like an MVP, willing his team to victory despite a depleted roster.
Unfortunately, he missed five games due to an ankle injury, causing the Ravens to miss the playoffs.
But positively, his price went up after Carr’s deal.
