NFL World Reacts To Matt Ryan’s Goodbye

It is difficult to envision the Atlanta Falcons without Matt Ryan.

He’s been with the franchise for well over a decade and he brought the team to relevance during his heyday.

He gave the team an identity when they lost it after Michael Vick‘s demise.

For that reason alone, fans can’t help but appreciate what he’s done for the franchise and the city.

Thank you Matt. You came and brought stability to the organization and we’re an amazing leader. You’ll be missed in the red and black. Go win a championship. I’ll always pull for you. 👍🏾 🏆 💍 pic.twitter.com/TbInsqvK15

The tweet above summarizes what the brought when he joined the Falcons as the third overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

It took time before the team became competitive, but he immediately brought his poise and leadership to the table.

He was exactly what the team needed at the time and that’s why fans supported him.

Unfortunately, it’s just too bad that he never brought a championship to Atlanta despite playing in Super Bowl LI.

In some ways, Falcons fans are pulling for him to win a championship with the Indianapolis Colts.

Likewise, Ryan’s departure means an end of an era for the Falcons after losing another franchise icon in 2021.

Who would've thought we'd lose both of them in back to back seasons smh pic.twitter.com/IKHBe7YR44

There have been rumors that Ryan and Julio Jones might reunite in Indianapolis.

Whether that happens or not, both men gave Atlanta a team they could be proud of.

Reality Hasn’t Hit Other Falcons Fans

As always, it’s difficult to move on from something that has been constantly there for a long time.

That’s the case some Falcons fans are dealing with after Ryan got traded to the Colts for a third-round pick.

How could you abandon the falcons after all these years? Like I’d get it if your room was filled with colts decorations growing up and your parents had pictures of you wearing colts jerseys all around the house but seriously??

However, Ryan owes nothing to the Falcons organization because he gave his all.

He stuck with the team through the good times and bad, plus you rarely heard a complaint from him.

Sadly, nothing is permanent but change and it would be better for Ryan to play elsewhere.
