Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku had a mission that NFL insiders might not like.
He had something in store for April Fools’ Day and was able to pull off the joke.
He started the day by tweeting, “Good Morning all, I have instructed my agent @malkikawa to seek a trade. I want my fans to know first.”
Reporters immediately picked up that post, including Pro Football Focus’ Ari Meirov and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
David Njoku just fooled 3 NFL reporters in a span of 1 minute. What a legend.

It didn’t take long before Njoku revealed that it was all a prank when he said, “April Fools baby.”
Browns fans were relieved that it was all a hoax and that he would stay for at least one more season.
However, that incident is a lesson learned by the insiders who failed to verify information from the source.
Misinformation is rampant in a fast-paced world, but reports should validate the truth.
That said, Rapoport had a subsequent tweet saying that contract extension talks between Njoku and the Browns are ongoing.
Both sides expect a deal to be finished before the July 15 deadline.
That update had this Twitter user commending the Browns front office.
The work Andrew Berry has done going from David Njoku wanting out of Cleveland 2 years ago, to a long term commitment, is executive of the year material. https://t.co/Zdt1B1I5TF

Aside from Njoku, Berry was able to bring in Amari Cooper and Deshaun Watson this offseason.
Those three players could form a devastating trio in Cleveland.
Mixed Reactions To Njoku’s Contract Extension
Njoku edged Austin Hooper at tight end, with the latter signing with the Tennessee Titans.
But even if the former Miami Hurricane will be their starter, this fan hopes that head coach Kevin Stefanski will maximize Njoku’s skill.
If the Browns do eventually extend David Njoku, I only hope that they actually use him in their offense. Big ask, I know, but a guy can dream

With Watson on board, expect his production to increase.
However, the Browns must spread out the wealth, especially with their talented backfield of Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb.
I’m ready for David Njoku to be in the realm of the TE1s where he belongs

Yet even if the team has a solid run game, this above supporter sees wonderful things for Njoku next season.
