The 2022 NFL offseason has seen a lot of NFL teams needing quarterbacks.
Some teams filled those needs during free agency.
Other teams got their quarterbacks by trading for them.
Some are waiting on the 2022 NFL Draft to select their next quarterback.
However, there are teams that could use someone as a backup quarterback.
There’s one quarterback making a case for a job in 2022.
That quarterback is Colin Kaepernick, a polarizing player for NFL fans.
While he most likely wants a huge contract and starting job, he’d be better suited as a backup for an NFL team.
So what three NFL teams could use him as a backup in 2022?
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
People seeing this are now thinking they’re reading a clickbait article.
However, there’s a case for Kaepernick backing up Tom Brady in Tampa.
It sounds crazy, but the two quarterbacks could work together as teammates.
Brady has a past of helping players that other teams would rather forget.
He took Antonio Brown under his roof when the two played in Tampa together during their Super Bowl season.

People might desire a Brady and Kaepernick living arrangement as a great pitch for a reality TV show.
However, he could learn from the G.O.A.T. of NFL quarterbacks and get a starting job in the future.
It would be a win-win situation for Kaepernick, as he’d be the guy taking over when Brady retires.
2. Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders already have a quarterback in Carson Wentz.
However, adding Kaepernick gives the team a backup in case Wentz is injured.
With Wentz’s injury history, it’s a great idea having someone behind him if they need them.
A player like Kaepernick gives them someone with experience and someone that wants back in the NFL.
He could also see starting time given Washington’s history of starting quarterbacks being injured early in the season.
So a move by Washington to sign him gives both parties something they desire.
Kaepernick gets an NFL job while the Commanders get an okay quarterback with starting experience.
Also, given the recent stories coming from Washington, it would be a good PR move for the team.
They would only need to sell a Kaepernick return with the Commanders to their fans.
1. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers could give Kaepernick something he wants, by making him earn that position he desires.
They could bring him in as a backup to Mitch Trubisky.

It would bring an instant competition to the quarterback position that could see Kaepernick upgrading to starter.
However, that starting position would hinge on how well he performs in the preseason.
But it at least gives him the opportunity to become a starter, like he desires.
It would also pair him with a coach that might be best suited for him and his reboot in the NFL.
Mike Tomlin can help turn Kaepernick into the quarterback he believes himself to be.
It also means he wouldn’t have any excuses if he failed in Pittsburgh as a starter or backup.
