The NFL offseason is nearly over, as most teams have begun training camp.
Training camp is a time for fans to see the current state of their favorite team and have a front-row seat into rookie development.
It’s also a time for rankings and projections, which many analysts spend the offseason doing.
Each season, the NFL lists its top 100 players for the upcoming year, which tends to be a topic of debate.
On this year’s rendition, the NFL put Justin Fields above Trevor Lawrence, a move that has been heavily scrutinized.
However, in a recent conversation with NFL Total Access, Ladanian Tomlinson defended this rank.
Tomlinson contended, “Trevor Lawrence can not do what Justin Fields can do with his legs.”

During the 2022 season, Lawrence rushed for 291 total yards, while Fields ran for 1,143.
Fields tends to take off on the run at a moment’s notice, while Lawrence is more of a pocket passer who typically runs out of necessity.
However, Tomlinson didn’t just stop at saying that Fields had a much higher rushing floor than Lawrence.
He also said, “Fields can throw the ball like Lawrence,” indicating that he is overall more talented.
When reviewing their numbers from last season, Fields threw for 2,242 total yards, while Lawrence went for 4,113.
Both numbers were career highs for the 2021 first-round draft picks.
Fields has declared that he will reach 4,000 passing yards this season, which hasn’t been done in Chicago Bears history.
If that happens, Tomlinson’s point could come to fruition.
