The Buffalo Bills are in danger of losing safety Jordan Poyer for nothing.
Last year’s First-Team All-Pro is in the final year of the two-year, $19.5 million extension he signed in 2020.
Before that deal, he agreed to a four-year, $13 million contract with the AFC East squad.
Re-signing him should be a no-brainer for Buffalo, especially after a season with 93 total tackles, three sacks, four passes defended, and five interceptions.
After his initial struggles with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns, the former Oregon State standout has proven that he belongs in the NFL.
Therefore, losing him for nothing is a mistake that the Bills are trying to avoid.
They will try to come up with terms that the 31-year-old defensive back will agree to.
But even if a deal isn’t in place yet, Poyer is not moving away from his commitment with the Bills.
Buffalo’s All-Pro S Jordan Poyer will attend the Bills’ mandatory minicamp this week despite still seeking a contract extension as he enters the last year on his deal. The Bills have been in communication with Poyer’s agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln, about his situation.

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted, “Buffalo’s All-Pro S Jordan Poyer will attend the Bills’ mandatory minicamp this week despite still seeking a contract extension as he enters the last year on his deal. Getting The Job Done Is Poyer’s Priority
Perhaps Poyer would like to focus on preparing for another season as his agents take charge of the negotiations.
He has relayed what he is looking for, especially his asking price, and trusts Rosenhaus and Lincoln to pitch that number for him.
Meanwhile, they have the chance to be a solid defense again in 2022 with him, Micah Hyde, Tre’Davious White, and rookie Kaiir Elam.
They have the talent to shut down the opposing teams’ passing game which will significantly help their cause.
Likewise, they want to prove that being ranked the NFL’s top defense last season was no fluke.
