The NFL head coaching carousel is still going around and around.
Only one team has found its next head coach, the Carolina Panthers.
But, there are still four teams looking for the right person to lead their club.
One team that looks to be closing in on its next head coach is the Houston Texans.
Houston is very interested in hiring one of its former players, DeMeco Ryans, as head coach.
Ryans has become one of the best coordinators in football over the past two seasons.
Leading the San Francisco 49ers to one of the best defenses in the NFL in both years.
Houston plans on hosting Ryans for a second interview, with hopes of closing the deal.
49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans is planning to travel to Houston for a second interview with the Texans, per sources. If things go to plan, Cal McNair and Nick Caserio should have their next head coach in the ex-Texans star LB.

Ryans played the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Texans.
So he is more than familiar with their owner and organization.
Despite being one of the least successful teams in the NFL of late, Houston has the second overall draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
If Ryans does get the job, his first duty should be to find the team a franchise quarterback.
After trading Deshaun Watson before this season, they knew they would be back in the quarterback market.
Once they do that, Ryans should be able to turn this team around.
As a coordinator, he was very disciplined and the 49ers players seemed to love playing for him.
He had success shutting down some of the top offenses in the NFL, but the players in San Francisco were also very good.
It might take some time for Ryans to build the roster he wants in Houston, but once he does, some successful seasons will come.
