The Cleveland Browns needed to make a cut because they had four quarterbacks on their roster.
Unfortunately, it’s a situation familiar to former UCLA standout Josh Rosen.
Therefore, it isn’t surprising anymore to read this tweet from Pro Football Focus writer Ari Meirov.
The #Browns will be releasing QB Josh Rosen, per @JosinaAnderson.

Rosen’s release means that the Browns will go with Deshaun Watson, Jacoby Brissett, and Joshua Dobbs for the 2022 season.
However, Brissett will take over for Watson while he is serving his 11-game suspension for violating the league’s conduct policy.
Meanwhile, Dobbs has been a sensation for the Browns during the preseason.
Rosen is the odd man out, and he will have to continue his NFL journey elsewhere if a team takes a chance on him.
Being shown the door has been a familiar narrative in Rosen’s career.
After becoming a Second-Team All-Pac 12 in 2017, the Arizona Cardinals chose him with the tenth overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.
But after one season, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2019 second-rounder and 2020 fifth-rounder.
In 2020, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad before joining the San Francisco 49ers.
The Niners desperately needed a quarterback after Jimmy Garoppolo and Nick Mullens were nursing injuries.
Last season, the Atlanta Falcons signed him after backup quarterback A.J. McCarron suffered a season-ending injury.
The Browns are his sixth team, but he won’t go beyond the offseason.
Will Rosen Get Another Chance?
At this stage of his career, Rosen is nothing more than a journeyman quarterback.
That’s a steep fall from being one of the top prospects years ago.
But with limited playing time, his best chance is if another quarterback goes down.
That’s the only way he can get a roster spot because he’s not beating anyone.
