The NFL offseason is getting to a point where the teams are going to start participating in workouts.
Organized team activities are getting ready to begin and that means the NFL owners need to meet again.
This time it will be a two-day spring meeting for NFL owners in Minnesota.
They will have plenty of topics that need to be discussed as well.
According to Ian Rapoport, four issues will be discussed over the two days.
Two are locations of a future Super Bowl and NFL Draft, and the others are in-season changes.
Among the issues set to to decided here in Minnesota at the Spring League Meeting today and tomorrow:
— A new rule that would place all kickoff fair-catches at the 25 yard-line.
— Can TNF games be flexed?
— The location of the 2025 NFL Draft.
— The location of Super Bowl 60.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 22, 2023
One thing that has been a hot topic of conversation is finding a way to make kickoffs safer.
Each season we see a plethora of injuries occur on kickoffs and they are a constant worry for the league.
One rule the league may implement is allowing fair catches on kickoffs to be placed at the 25-yard line.
Also, the NFL has had many problems with their Thursday Night Football games in the recent past.
Most of the games are featuring bad teams and the quality of play is poor.
But, being able to flex better games into that TNF slot could be a major win for the NFL.
One issue that may arise is that no team wants to play on Thursday night.
It has been known for a while that TNF games do not give each team enough time to recover from their previous game.
But, the NFL is in the moneymaking business and that is why those games will remain.
It will be interesting to see what the owners vote on as each of these moves will have a major impact on the game.
