Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson still had two years left on the final contract he signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
However, he and his new team would like to extend their partnership by making him one of the highest-paid players in the league.

NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport shared that Wilson and the Broncos agreed to terms on a five-year, $245 million extension.
Part of that value is $165 million in guaranteed money
Its $49 million annual average value just puts him below Aaron Rodgers‘ three-year, $150.8 million deal.
The deal makes him a Bronco until 2028, when he is 40 years old.
Wilson was traded by Seattle to Denver in exchange for five picks and three players.
The picks consist of two-first rounders, two second-rounders, and a fifth-rounder.
Meanwhile, Drew Lock, Shelby Harris, and Noah Fant went to the Seahawks as part of the deal.
On the other hand, Seattle also gave up a fourth-round pick aside from Wilson.
Broncos fans expect Wilson to deliver a championship like the Super Bowl XLVIII victory he brought to the Seahawks.
Aside from being a world champion, Wilson is also a nine-time Pro Bowler and 2019 Second-Team All-Pro.
He also received the 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
Final Piece For A Super Bowl Puzzle?
For years, the Broncos had an underachieving offense, though they had immense talent at the skill positions.
Over the past few seasons, quarterback play has been a question, and Wilson is here to address that concern.
He will navigate a unit that has a potent backfield tandem in Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon III, who combined for 1,821 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
Meanwhile, their receiving corps has Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and KJ Hamler.
Therefore, Wilson’s experience could help elevate this group to greater heights.
That outcome could be displayed when Wilson and the Broncos face his former team on September 12.
