The Detroit Lions are not having the start to training camp that they had hoped for.
While training camp is necessary for every team it is also a chance for players to get injured.
That is what happened with the newest Lion C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
According to Field Yates, Gardner-Johnson left practice early on Monday with a knee injury.
He was carted off the field yet the MRI revealed no structural damage.
The MRI on Lions S C.J. Gardner-Johnson revealed no structural damage to his knee and he is considered day-to-day at this time, I’m told.
Great news for a huge part of Detroit’s reshaped secondary after Gardner-Johnson left practice earlier today.

It is great news for the Lions that there does not appear to be serious damage.
Gardner-Johnson is expected to be a difference-maker for them in the secondary this season.
He is coming off a career year in Philadelphia where he had six interceptions.
Now he is hoping to have similar success on a Lions defense that was one of the worst in the league last year.
Detroit is a team that many are picking as their sleeper team for the upcoming season.
Last season they won nine games and proved they can compete with every team in the league.
That theory will be put to the test in Week 1 when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
The NFL gave the Lions the season-opening game thinking they could be competitive with the Chiefs.
Hopefully, they will not disappoint.
With the landscape of the NFC, the Lions have a chance to return to the playoffs this year.
That is a place they have not been since the 2016 season.
Plenty of eyes will be on the Lions as they look to shock the league this year.
