The Arizona Cardinals have recently received some great news about one of their best offensive players.
After finishing the 2022 season with a 4-13 record, the Cardinals are on the mend, hoping to rebound.
According to Mike Garafolo, Zach Ertz is slated to rejoin the team, as he’s on track to start Week 1.
Almost nine months after tearing his ACL and MCL, #AZCardinals TE Zach Ertz has been cleared for full football activity and is on track to start Week 1, source says. The Cardinals are awaiting a return to play from Kyler Murray, who is coming off an ACL injury.
At this time, the team hasn’t announced when Murray will be back on the field, leaving a question mark at their quarterback position.
Murray is the face of the franchise, evidenced by the massive contract he signed.
Until he returns to play, it’ll be up to a combination of Colt McCoy and Clayton Tune to hold down the fort.
McCoy has started 36 career games and has that experience going in his favor.
Tune is a rookie, the Cardinals’ fifth-round pick in this year’s draft.
The good news is that they’ll be joined by a familiar face in Ertz.
While Ertz likely has just a few seasons of NFL production left, his veteran leadership has been a consistent bright spot for this team.
The Cardinals moved on from De’Andre Hopkins in the offseason, losing some of that veteran leadership.
Hopefully, Ertz’s combination of on and off-field production will assist this team that needs many changes.
They’ve added a new coaching staff, which should help their cause.
Can the Cardinals put everything together, resulting in an improved season, even without Murray at the helm?
