Now that we are officially entering the second half of the NFL season, it is time to begin the 2021 NFL Draft buzz.
A lot of it is speculation, of course, but in the case of the Chicago Bears, one thing is for sure.
The team will be looking for a quarterback in the offseason given the issues with both Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles.
With that being said, the 2021 NFL Draft could be loaded with QBs.
Chicago Bears
Let’s preface the discussion with the fact that the Bears are 5-4.
The Bears are in second place behind the Green Bay Packers who are at 6-2.
Practically speaking, the Bears playoff hopes are very much alive even with their much ballyhooed quarterback situation in 2020.
Because of their record thus far in the season, it is difficult to envision a scenario where the Browns will earn a high first-round draft pick unless the team chooses to make a trade.
The 2021 NFL Draft Projected Top QB Picks
Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has grabbed the majority of the headlines.
He is a junior so he would need to forfeit his last year of eligibility for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Many say if he does this, he will be a New York Jet.
Then, there is Ohio State QB Justin Fields who is having a Heisman-worthy season.
Also a junior, he would need to declare for the draft too.
Barring a trade, it seems Fields would be gone until the Bears would have a first round pick.
There is also North Dakota State’s Trey Lance who is believed to be a higher pick than the Bears would have.
On ESPN 1000’s Kap & J Hood, NFL insider Albert Breer discussed quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft, and said Chicago will likely be out on the top 3.
Breer Likes QBs Zach Wilson, Kyle Trask & Mac Jones For The Bears
“There’s this second group of quarterbacks emerging where — I’m not saying these guys are superstars — but they’re guys I think teams would be comfortable taking in the first round, and could be options for teams that aren’t in the top 10, and I think Chicago fits into that category, right? They probably won’t be drafting in the top 10, and so the three names I want you guys to kind of keep an eye on: Zach Wilson, who, I’m sure you’ve heard about him … Then there are two quarterbacks in the SEC: one’s Kyle Trask at Florida … I think he’s got a chance to go in the top 50 or so picks, and then the other is Mac Jones from Alabama, who, if you look at it, and you compare side by side, his numbers are actually probably better than Tua’s were.”
Zach Wilson is one of the most appealing.
Wilson reportedly appears to give the Bears what they thought they were getting with Trubisky, a dual-threat who runs and throws smart, accurate passes.
It is worth noting that Zach Wilson is also a junior so he would have to forfeit his final year of eligibility to enter the 2021 NFL Draft and some speculate he would be gone before the Bears had a chance to draft him.
Is it worth jumping on the Zach Wilson hype train?
Feel like the Bears have no shot at getting him if he’s actually as good as advertised.. pic.twitter.com/wKwINchOJ4

Social Media Is Running With the Idea
It’s unclear if all of the cards will fall into place for the Bears to draft Wilson, but it doesn’t matter to the world according to social media.

So you want a new quarterback, #Bears fans?
How about a BYU QB who wears a headband?

What is clear is that there is a lot of football yet to be played in the second half of the 2020 season.
The Bears are in contention; Mitch Trubisky is currently injured, and Nick Foles has been known to lead teams to the promised land of Super Bowl victories.
Time will tell what the Bears 2020 fate will be and if the 2021 NFL draft speculation regarding Zach Wilson will come to fruition.
