The start of the Sean Payton era didn’t start off the way fans hoped as the Denver Broncos narrowly lost to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.
The Broncos did well to control time of possession throughout the afternoon, but so did the Raiders who methodically marched down the field and scored the game’s final touchdown to take home the victory.
Russell Wilson didn’t look too much better than he did last season, though he was playing shorthanded as he was without Jerry Jeudy.
Jeudy has missed time due to a hamstring injury he suffered and his presence was sorely missed as Wilson didn’t have many options to go to against Las Vegas.
With Payton at the helm, Jeudy is expected to play a larger role in the passing game and the offense can’t wait to have him back.
Fortunately for Denver, it looks like the wideout will be making his season debut soon as he was able to practice fully this week via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Broncos listing WR Jerry Jeudy as a full participant in today’s practice, putting him on track to play Sunday vs. Washington.

This is great news for the Broncos as they were missing a player who can create separation and give Wilson easy throwing windows to keep the chains moving.
The Washington Commanders are coming off a win against the Arizona Cardinals, but did seem susceptible to passing plays.
With Javonte Williams still working his way back from injury himself, Payton could opt to lean on the pass catchers.
Jeudy isn’t expected to play a full allotment of snaps, but just his presence alone should be a huge boost.
