Did the Las Vegas Raiders try to fix what isn’t broken?
They made the playoffs last season with interim head coach Rich Bisaccia after taking over for Jon Gruden.
Their offense flowed with Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller as their top targets on offense.
Trading for All-Pro wideout Davante Adams also makes their passing attack more potent, especially with the familiarity between him and Derek Carr.
However, the Raiders hired Josh McDaniels as head coach, hoping to benefit from his expertise.
But there’s a reason he went back as offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots.
Has Josh McDaniels been fired yet?

For now, McDaniels keeps his job after suffering a heartbreaking 30-29 defeat in their Week 5 Monday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
That defeat gave them four losses in five games.
Their only victory came against a Denver Broncos squad that is also struggling on offense despite trading for Russell Wilson.
Speaking of the Broncos, McDaniels had his first stint as head coach with that squad and won his first six games.
Last year Hunter Renfrow finished the season with either a touchdown or 100 receiving yards in 8 of his final 10 games.

Unfortunately, he has a 6-21 record since, including his 1-4 start with the Raiders.
With Matt Rhule already getting the pink slip from the Carolina Panthers after an identical start, McDaniels’ seat just got hotter after another defeat.
The Bye Week Can Help
The Raiders have 12 regular-season games left, and they must make the most of each assignment.
Luckily, they get a chance to regroup via their bye in Week 6.
That reset can help McDaniels and his coaching staff perform better in their remaining matches.
What’s the over/under on days it would take for Josh McDaniels to be calling offensive plays for the pats if the raiders let him go mid season?

But if it doesn’t work, he might suffer the same fate Rhule did.
As much as I have complained about that one call, I’m putting this right here on Josh McDaniels. He reminds me a lot of Scott Frost’s time at Nebraska, where he constantly takes every game to the wire but can NEVER close it out. Good football is good, but the W has to result. https://t.co/xJt2yX4QRJ

After all, what’s the use of putting up points if they cannot complete the victories?
