The Arizona Cardinals aren’t expected to be very good in 2023, so parting ways with DeAndre Hopkins and saving some money was an easy call for them.
Now, the Clemson product is looking to sing a new deal, but an unnamed executive claims he can no longer run anymore.
That’s why Shannon Sharpe came to Hopkins’ defense, citing that he could still be a major boost for most teams in the league.

Sharpe pointed out the fact that Hopkins has a grand total of four dropped passes in his past three seasons, which is obviously elite.
He believes that if Hopkins can run this season, then there’s no reason to believe he couldn’t give a team a valuable piece to their receiving corps.
Sharpe also cited that Hopkins has never been a Tyreek Hill-kind of player or a “burner,” so it’s not like speed has been his most prominent trait.
Finally, the legendary tight end said that it’ll all come down to whether Hopkins is looking to sign another lucrative deal and will only focus on making money, or whether he wants to play for a Super Bowl ring on a short-term deal while he still can.
Truth be told, Hopkins is one of the most reliable receivers in the league, and has been for a very long time.
He’s made a living out of out-matching DBs and making spectacular 50/50 catches, and that’s not something that takes a lot of speed, but rather craft, athleticism, talent, and instincts.
