Week 18 of the NFL season has been full of surprises.
Perhaps the biggest of all was the Jacksonville Jaguars taking down the Indianapolis Colts to eliminate their division rival from the postseason.
The win was thrilling and lets prospective head coaches see that there really is talent on the roster.
Yet some fans may have been bummed because the Jaguars needed to lose to clinch the top overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
A win improved them to 3-14, while the Detroit Lions entered the day with a record of 2-13-1.
Then even more magic happened for Jacksonville, thanks to the Lions taking down the Green Bay Packers in a 37-30 finish.
Aaron Rodgers did not finish the game and the Lions came through.
Thus, the Jaguars picked up a statement win and clinched the top overall pick in the 2022 draft.

This means the Jaguars will pick first for the second year in a row.
Back Atop The Draft
Jacksonville winning provides the entire organization with a nice positive after a season filled with so many negatives.
The Urban Meyer saga was a daily storyline and he could not even make it to the end of his first NFL season.
All he did was set the team on a path back to the No. 1 pick.

That may end up being his best feat because the Jaguars still have a lot of holes to fill on the roster.
They can also entice head coaching candidates with the idea of showing up and adding the top prospect in the draft class.
Already having the quarterback in place with Trevor Lawrence means the team can add based on overall talent and not just positional need.
The Jaguars had a rough season, but ultimately ended it with a great day.
