The Kansas City Royals have officially introduced their new manager.
On Sunday, Kansas City confirmed that they had hired Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro to become their new manager and replace the recently dismissed Mike Matheny.
Quatraro had his introductory press conference this week.
During the conference Quatraro expressed a desire to build a championship environment in Kansas City and to bring the Royals back to where they were back in 2015, which as Quatraro described it was “the top tier of Major League Baseball.”

Quatraro Introduced As Royals Manager
The Royals have plenty of work to do this offseason if they want to get back to where they were back in 2015 after winning the World Series.
But Quatraro brings some winning experience with him, having served under Kevin Cash during his time with the Rays.
Tampa Bay has reached the postseason in four straight years with Cash at the helm and Quatraro as the bench coach.
That experience should be valuable for the Royals, who have a young core of players that consists of Vinnie Pasquantino, M.J. Melendez, Brady Singer, Drew Waters, and Bobby Witt Jr.
The Royals went 65-97 this season and finished dead last in the American League Central.
The Royals will hope that Quatraro can help turn the franchise around and help create a winning culture in Kansas City.
It’s been since 2015 that the Royals last reached October.
And so, Quatraro’s mission to build a winner starts today.
