The Kansas City Chiefs will enter the 2023 NFL season as reigning Super Bowl Champions.
They have established themselves as one of the league’s most dominant teams, largely due to the brilliance of Patrick Mahomes.
However, the Chiefs’ defense has been an underrated aspect of this team and a necessary part of their success.
Despite their dominance last season, the Chiefs were still in search of additional pieces for their roster.
One of their adds in the offseason was linebacker Drue Tranquill, a former member of the Los Angeles Chargers.
In a recent segment of NFL Total Access, Tranquill detailed the path to signing with the Chiefs.
Regarding the Chiefs’ pursuit of him, Tranquill said, “I just felt really valued over there, felt like they really had a role for me.”

He also noted head coach Andy Reid’s comments, which came on the day of his signing.
Right before signing his deal with the Chiefs, Tranquill noted that Reid said, “Think red, think Super Bowls.”
The Chiefs certainly know a thing or two about winning Super Bowls, given their success over the past several years.
Tranquill appears ready to contribute to this roster, which is in search of yet another Lombardi trophy.
His 2022 season was his statistical best, and he’ll be in search of even more growth on an experienced roster.
The Chiefs’ defense is now headlined by Tranquill, Willie Gay, Chris Jones, along many others.
Will they be able to make another deep playoff run this year, knowing their recent roster additions?
