The San Francisco 49ers will have a change of guard at quarterback.
They are trying to trade away Jimmy Garoppolo, the man who helped them to a playoff run that ended in the NFC Championship Game.
However, they are not having any success in doing so as the veteran play-caller isn’t having any takers.
While Garoppolo remains with the team, they will still hand over the starting role to second-year quarterback Trey Lance.
They traded up for him and there’s no reason to do that move if they will bench him again.
Last season, the former North Dakota State standout showed some glimpses of his talent in six games played.
He finished with 603 yards and five touchdowns.
Though Lance has his share of doubters, one teammate believes that he will significantly improve next season.

When Pro Football Focus posted the question “Which 2nd-year QB takes the leap next season?”, cornerback Charvarius Ward responded with Lance.
Ward is a new addition to the 49ers after playing four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.
He signed a three-year contract to join the Niners and will be the possible starter at the position alongside Emmanuel Moseley.
Lance Has The Teammates To Become Successful
Even Garoppolo is welcome to the idea that Lance will take over from him one day.
That time has come and he must navigate an offense that has Elijah Mitchell, Jeff Wilson Jr. JaMycal Hasty, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle.
He will also benefit from Deebo Samuel staying with the squad.
It seems like Samuel will remain with San Francisco despite requesting for a trade after he followed the team’s official Instagram account again.
Having him back gives Lance a legitimate deep threat.

Deebo is not a deep threat, however he can take any pass he catches to the house.
