Once again, Jimmy Butler’s future with the Miami Heat has been a subject of debate.
The team hasn’t fared as well as they’ve usually done, and with Butler getting up in age and struggling with injuries, they don’t seem to be that sold on him for the long run.
His agent recently denied several claims of potential trades to the Phoenix Suns or other teams.
But since he didn’t get a contract extension, he could become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
With that in mind, he could be a target for the Brooklyn Nets.
According to Brian Lewis of The New York Post (via NBA Central), Butler had previously expressed an interest in joining the Nets.
Jimmy Butler is reportedly interested in joining the Brooklyn Nets during free agency next summer, per @NYPost_Lewis

However, as the team entered a rebuilding phase, GM Sean Marks wasn’t looking forward to trading valuable assets to acquire a veteran player.
However, signing him as a free agent would be a completely different story.
It’s hard to imagine why an aging player looking to win his first NBA championship would be interested in joining a bottom-feeding team like the Nets.
Then again, Butler has never been one who actively pursues big names or tries to team up with superstars.
He’s still one of the best defensive players in the league, and he would be instrumental in building a winning culture in the organization.
He would lead the young players and teach them what it takes to succeed in the league.
