After two dominant performances to start the 2023 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys have imposed their will on the defensive side of the football, with star linebacker Micah Parsons looking like the early favorite for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Unfortunately, heading into Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals on the road, the Cowboys suffered a major loss, with All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs going down with an injury during practice.
Diggs went down in practice this week with a non-contact injury to his knee, which is almost always a severe injury, and that’s precisely what it turned out to be.
The Cowboys will have to press on without arguably their second-best defensive player, as Diggs will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
During an appearance on “First Take,” former NFL star Bart Scott made a bad joke about the Cowboys losing Diggs for the season, which didn’t sit well with Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell, who took to Twitter to blast Scott for his comments.
This is lame… and as a former player this makes it 10x worse 🤦🏾♂️ https://t.co/2VpDfwZSp3

Season-ending injuries are no laughing matter, and as Mitchell points out, it is a lot worse that this ill-advised joke comes from a former NFL player.
It seems as though these controversial talk shows will do anything to go viral these days, even if it’s for the wrong reasons, with Scott making that abundantly clear with these comments that he’s bound to regret.
As for the Cowboys, America’s Team will try to keep playing at a high level defensively without Diggs as the team attempts to make a run at going the distance this season.
