Over the past few years, the Atlanta Hawks have experienced some drastic ups and downs, with the team seeing the upside and downside of having star guard Trae Young be the face of the franchise.
At times, the Hawks look like a solid team led by a player that could become a legitimate superstar in this league.
However, Young’s upside may not be enough to overshadow his downside, as he has struggled to see eye-to-eye with head coaches and has rubbed some teammates the wrong way in his short time in Atlanta.
With Young being a problem that the Hawks franchise may no longer want to deal with, especially with the arrival of Quin Synder, the rumors have begun to swirl about the team being willing to trade him.
According to Jared Greenberg of NBA on TNT, those trade rumors were refuted by the team’s front office.

“There is absolutely no merit to any sort of trade rumors right now.” pic.twitter.com/jzr0xzyIFc

Whenever trade rumors start swirling about a star player in the NBA, the first course of action for the team is to deny the rumors, but that rarely means the team isn’t at least considering a move in the near future.
There’s no doubt about Young’s talent, as he’s arguably one of the best point guards in the league with the ability to score and distribute.
However, Young’s attitude and ego might be something the team wants to move on from, especially while his trade value remains high.
The Hawks may get a substantial return in a potential blockbuster deal involving Young, and they might be able to package John Collins, who the team has tried to trade for years.
