The NBA world was rocked the other day when the latest trade rumors surrounding Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets emerged.
Inside sources said that the Boston Celtics had offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and a draft pick to land Durant.
The proposal was promptly denied by the Nets, who are looking for perhaps the greatest trade package in NBA history in exchange for Durant.
Paul Pierce also in attendance at the Point Gods premiere — when the topic of the potential Celtics/Nets deal came up he was clear with his answer. “They’re not doing that.”

Everyone was talking about that possible deal, including Celtics legend Paul Pierce.
Speaking at the premiere of the new TV show “Point Gods”, Pierce shot down the proposal: “They’re not doing that,” he said simply.
Pierce surely has some inside knowledge of the Celtics organization so he probably knows what he’s talking about.
But is the damage already done?
Chemistry Chipped Away
One of Boston’s biggest secret weapons is the team chemistry flowing through the squad.
The way that these guys work together is unparalleled, they obviously truly care for one another and feel like a real, legitimate, close-knit team.
This alleged trade package is dead in the water but just its leaking could be truly detrimental to the Celtics.
Brown could feel unwanted and that could lead him to not want to try as hard and that could impact other guys on the roster.
The Celtics came close to winning the Finals last season which means they don’t need anything to work against them and lessen their power.
At the same time, perhaps this will just light a bigger fire under Brown and will make him an even better player.
He is one dedicated and strong athlete and he loves proving critics wrong.
However, usually, he’s not trying to prove his own front office wrong.
