After the loss of Kyrie Irving, the Brooklyn Nets are at a huge crossroads.
They have to decide the best path forward to build a strong, competitive team around Kevin Durant and figure out how to stay in the playoff picture without Irving’s assistance.
They also have to determine what they will do with Ben Simmons, the troubled guard who doesn’t seem to deliver.
Zach Lowe: “The biggest issue in BKN wasn't Kyrie, it wasn't Harden…it was Ben Simmons. He's a 0, Simmons has $80m owed to him over the next 2 yrs and doesn't produce."
Windhorst: “Its one of the worst 3 contracts in the NBA”
Lowe: "Is he even a starter now?"

NBA insiders Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst talked about Simmons during the latest episode of The Lowe Post and they were definitely not complimentary of the star.
“The biggest issue in Brooklyn wasn’t Kyrie, it wasn’t Harden. It was Ben Simmons. He’s a zero. Simmons has $80 million owed to him over the next two years and he doesn’t produce,” Lowe said.
Windhorst replied with, “It’s one of the worst three contracts in the NBA.”
This isn’t the first time that NBA experts have criticized Simmons and wondered what the team will do with him.
Fans of the Nets have been saying the same things for months now.
Simmons has only been giving the Nets 7.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.4 assists a game.
He has also brought a bunch of headaches because of his lacking offense and clunky defense, which has led to many fouls and multiple ejections.
The team has been holding out hope that he’ll look like a former All-Star again but they are losing faith.
They might be actively trying to get rid of him.
Recent reports have said that the team was attempting to deal Simmons away before the trade deadline but apparently few teams are eager to talk about that and he’s garnering very little interest.
So, they might end up losing a lot if they commit to trading Simmons.
Are the days of Simmons scoring nearly 17 points a night, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists a night long gone?
The Nets will have to decide that soon.
