The Houston Rockets are still reeling from the recent injury of Fred VanVleet.
VanVleet will be out of commission for the entire 2025-26 season, which means the Rockets will have to come up with other plans.
According to Jake Fischer, they are already planning ahead and will turn to multiple players to run the offense.
Apparently, the Rockets hope that “some of the offense” will be run through Alperen Sengun and Kevin Durant.
Additionally, they are also going to use the next few months to evaluate Reed Sheppard and Amen Thompson as well.
This could put together a strong offensive squad that can fill the voids left by VanVleet.

It looks like Durant has arrived at the perfect time for the Rockets.
They were already expecting big things out of him, but the loss of VanVleet makes the need for Durant even stronger.
There is no doubt that Durant can shoot well, but the Rockets will want more out of him than just that.
If they are running the offense through him, they will need Durant to handle the ball, make plays, and find his teammates often.
The same is true for Sengun, and potentially Sheppard and Thompson as well.
These are some major responsibilities, and it sounds like the Rockets’ coaching staff is attempting to get on its feet after the huge blow of losing VanVleet.
They are putting a plan in place, but it may take some time for these players to adjust.
The Rockets are disappointed that they won’t have VanVleet, but they are very thankful that several stars will try to pick up the slack.
