The 2022-23 NBA season just ended which means it’s time for analysts and writers to start predicting how the next season might end.
Chris Russo took to First Take to predict who will be the top five title contenders for 2023-24.
Surprisingly, Russo doesn’t think the reigning champions, the Denver Nuggets, will be the team to beat next season.
He said that the Oklahoma City Thunder are fifth on the list for title contenders.
They were followed by the up-and-coming Sacramento Kings and then the Milwaukee Bucks.
Finally, the Nuggets were the second team while Russo said that the Golden State Warriors will be the top title contenders.
.@MadDogUnleashed's top five NBA title contenders for 2024:
1. Warriors
2. Nuggets
3. Bucks
4. Kings
5. Thunder pic.twitter.com/fI5aX0Ko6N— First Take (@FirstTake) June 13, 2023
That is quite the list that raises a lot of questions.
Why aren’t the Nuggets the favorites to win another Finals?
And do the Thunder really have what it takes to charge to a championship with their inexperience and young roster?
Some people think that next season will belong to the Bucks or perhaps the Boston Celtics.
Others are reminding fans that the Phoenix Suns might finally be able to capitalize on the talent they have.
But Russo thinks it’ll be the Warriors who score one more championship before the team as we know it disbands.
If that is to happen, Golden State will need to right the many wrongs they suffered this season.
That is quite a tall order but the Warriors have overcome the odds before so they could possibly do it again.
Russo’s list is sure to garner some controversy and conversation.
What are the chances that he’s right and the Warriors once again climb to the top of the NBA next year?
