It has been several years since Kevin Durant suited up for the Golden State Warriors.
Yet his name has been trending on social media since the moment his former team clinched another NBA Finals victory with a Game 6 win over the Boston Celtics.
Why is that?
The simple explanation is that Durant had a perfect gig in Golden State.
He won two titles and could have stuck around to make them an unstoppable force.
Instead, he joined the Brooklyn Nets and has not enjoyed much of any postseason success since.
That got fans sharing memes and roasting him as the Warriors celebrate their latest title.

This sentiment likely won’t die down anytime soon.
NBA Fans Take Joy In Roasting Kevin Durant
Durant won two titles with Golden State and really had nothing left to prove there.
But it doesn’t take away from the narrative that the team is just fine without him around.

The superstar is now in a weird spot as the Nets just can’t seem to work together as a unit.
Specifically, Durant and Kyrie Irving can’t work together to lead the team to glory.
A failed James Harden experiment did not help much, with the same being true about Irving’s vaccine saga that lasted all season.
Draymond Green told Kevin Durant that the Warriors could win without him. They just did exactly that.

The Warriors would obviously be a better team with Durant on the floor.
But they proved they do not need him to win and his absence finally allowed Stephen Curry to take home a well-deserved Finals MVP award.

Will Durant care about all this slander?
Knowing his social media activity, a great response should be coming soon.
