The drama surrounding Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Brooklyn Nets continues.
The Fourth of July may be over but everyone around the league is still expecting fireworks with this situation – hopefully sooner rather than later.
Here’s what we know right now: both Irving and Durant want out of the Nets, with Durant having a few premier destinations in mind and Irving determined to make it to the Lakers.
But the Nets aren’t moving quickly on any deal because they have no rush to ship off their two biggest stars for nothing.
Whether it's in a deal for Russell Westbrook, or he sits out until it happens, Kyrie Irving is going to be a Laker sooner rather than later. And the Lakers are really the only team with nothing to lose in taking a chance on the NBA's biggest wildcard.

Yet, NBA analyst Jason Smith figures it’s only a matter of time before Irving is suited up in the purple and gold.
On Twitter, Smith said, “Whether it’s in a deal for Russell Westbrook, or he sits out until it happens, Kyrie Irving is going to be a Laker sooner rather than later.”
Smith continued: “And the Lakers are really the only team with nothing to lose in taking a chance on the NBA’s biggest wildcard.”
How much longer will this entire situation take?
Irving In The Air
We really have no idea when we will hear anything about Durant or Irving.
There is a chance that your phone could buzz with a breaking news notification right after you read this story – and there is also a chance that both stars could still be with Brooklyn when training camp begins.
The Nets will not move at any speed besides the one they want with all of this: they know they have the upper hand on both Durant and Irving and they will do whatever they want to receive whoever they want.
But Smith is right: unless something wild happens, Irving will most likely be playing for the Lakers next season.
