The Dallas Mavericks lost another pivotal game on Wednesday night, this time falling to the Philadelphia 76ers, 116-108.
Alarm bells are ringing louder than ever around the Mavericks, who are currently the 11th team in the West and out of play-in contention with just a few games to go.
NBA analyst Jay Williams discussed the problems with Dallas on Thursday’s edition of First Take.
He has serious issues and concerns with the coaching choices of Jason Kidd.
.@RealJayWilliams went in on the Mavs 😳
"There is a major concern that I have about Jason Kidd as a coach holding [Kyrie and Luka] accountable. In the last eight minutes of the game, Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić … took a combined five shots. … Last night was unacceptable." pic.twitter.com/X3MgLDMkBj

Williams doesn’t understand why Kidd didn’t use a timeout in the closing minutes of the game and command both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving to be more aggressive.
In fact, he questioned many of Kidd’s moves.
He isn’t the only person scratching his head about Kidd’s decisions.
Since the team traded for Irving back in February, they have slid down the rankings in the West and are looking far worse than they have all year.
There is plenty of talent on the team, especially in its backcourt, but Kidd isn’t capitalizing on it and that has people wondering if he will keep his job in the offseason.
The Mavericks front office can’t be happy with recent statements from Doncic about his unhappiness with the team’s direction.
They will do whatever they can to keep him satisfied and remaining in Dallas.
Kidd only has a few more games to right the wrongs and get his team back on track.
If they miss the playoffs, it’ll be seen as a total collapse in the second half of the season.
Because of that, his job may be on the line.
