One of the biggest stories of the year in the NBA is the collapse of the Los Angeles Lakers.
And now one of the largest questions is what will happen in the offseason: will Russell Westbrook be traded away?
Will the front office be dismantled?
Will Anthony Davis be on the team next year?
A lot is up in the air but Kenny Smith on TNT made a point about why Davis should be valued by the Lakers organization.
“If I put Anthony Davis on the Houston Rockets, they’re gonna be significantly in the playoffs”

Smith pointed out that Davis can greatly improve the postseason chances of any team, saying, “If I put Anthony Davis on the Houston Rockets, they’re gonna be significantly in the playoffs.”
Does Smith have a point and is Davis really that special of a talent?
Injured AD
There is no doubt that, generally, Davis makes a huge difference on any team.
For example, the 2018-19 Lakers were 10th in the West and failed to make the playoffs.
One year later, with Davis added to the roster, the Lakers ended up winning the NBA Finals.
There were a lot of factors that got LA to that point (a healthy James, for one) but Davis was obviously a massive part of the team’s epic resurgence.
When healthy, he’s a spectacular star – the problem is his healthy days seem to be less and less common.
Davis is suffering more injuries than ever before and he is spending much more time on the sidelines in street clothes.
If he can get fully healthy again, he will definitely help the Lakers – or any other team – in a huge way.
But if these injuries are going to the be norm, more people will forget just how special Davis can be.
