In the NBA, all eyes are on Victor Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, as people want to see if he will live up to the massive hype that surrounds him.
The 7-foot-3 French center has been described as a generational talent, and some, such as Adrian Wojnarowski, have even called him the greatest prospect in league history, greater than even legends such as LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal.
It is widely acknowledged that Wembanyama will be a work-in-progress at age 19, but TNT analyst Kenny Smith says the phenom will be the league’s MVP in his fourth season, via Bleacher Report.

In Wembanyama’s first summer league game, he struggled mightily offensively, as he scored just nine points on 2-of-13 shooting.
But he bust out in a big way just two days later with 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting, to go along with 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.
He is in an enviable position as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, a franchise that has won five NBA championships behind Hall-of-Fame big men David Robinson and Tim Duncan, and he will have every chance to hit his potential there.
Right now, at just 209 pounds, Wembanyama needs to add bulk and strength, and he needs to improve his balance so that opponents can’t push him off and cause him to fall to the ground.
But as long as his work ethic and desire are high, there’s a good chance he will become a superstar and perhaps even make good on Smith’s prediction.
