The Pittsburgh Steelers headed into the 2024 NFL season with a quarterback controversy, bringing in veteran Russell Wilson as a free agent and Justin Fields in a trade with the Chicago Bears.
The moves seemed to be wise, with the Steelers creating some insurance at the position, which the team has been lacking over the past few years, with seemingly a revolving door ever since the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.
However, things got a bit complicated early on, with Wilson dealing with a calf issue that kept him sidelined for the first month and a half of the season, leading Fields to become the starter and resulting in four wins in six games.
Heading into their Week 7 game against the New York Jets on “Sunday Night Football,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has to make a decision between starting Fields or Wilson now that the veteran is healthy and ready to go.
Steelers running back Najee Harris was asked what Wilson would bring to the table if he gets the nod, and he gave a very team-first answer.
“It is all 11 of us. You guys are worried about the quarterback, but I’m worried about all 11, the quarterback and the line and the receivers and the running back …,” Harris said, via Brooke Pryor of ESPN. “So Russ being out there, I mean he got to do the same thing that Justin doing. Justin’s been doing a great job for us. This is the best start that I think I had throughout my years being here.”
Najee Harris is maybe the most team-first player I've covered, which is why when I asked about what the offense gains with Russell Wilson on the field, he said it's about all 11, not one individual.

It seems Harris has the right mindset moving forward, and hopefully, for the sake of the team, the rest of the Steelers do as well, or it could get ugly if Wilson struggles.
Only time will tell which player is the best option at quarterback for Pittsburgh, and this game could begin to determine that.
