The Milwaukee Bucks fell 129-103 on Sunday night to the Indiana Pacers, and, along the way, they may have lost their second-biggest star for the foreseeable future.
Damian Lillard went down with a lower leg injury in the first quarter, and the prognosis for him isn’t great.
Following the game, Myles Turner of the Pacers spoke with ESPN and opened up about Lillard’s injury.
“This time of the year, I think everybody gets so caught up in all the antics and the playoff rivalry and all that type of stuff. At the end of the day, this league’s a brotherhood, man,” Pacers center Myles Turner said. “There’s only 450 of us, and he’s always been one of my favorite competitors since I’ve been in this league. Just thoughts and prayers. You never want to see anything like [Lillard’s injury] happen, no matter how competitive these playoffs are.”
This season has been hobbled by injuries to Lillard, who was attempting to get his Bucks back on track in the playoffs.
He only played for six minutes during Sunday’s game before his injury, and head coach Doc Rivers was honest with his assessment: things are not looking good for Lillard’s return.
Lillard was seen wearing a boot and crutches as he left the arena, and there is a belief that he has a possible Achilles tendon injury.
Obviously, Turner wanted to defeat Lillard and his team on Sunday, but not like this.
Even though they are playing against each other, they still admire one another and want to see them healthy and succeeding.
With a 3-1 deficit and the loss of Lillard, there are so many questions about what is next for the Bucks.
Is this season all but over, and what will happen in the summer?
How long will Lillard be out and what sort of Bucks team will he return to?
