Myles Turner has established himself as an elite center over the last eight years with the Indiana Pacers.
So much so that teams like the Los Angeles Lakers have shown continued interest in the two-time NBA blocks champion.
Despite the rumors, Turner has remained a member of the Pacers, at least for now.
A key reason that makes Turner one of the most skilled centers in the NBA is his three-point shooting combined with elite blocking ability.
But is Turner among the top-five centers in the NBA heading into the 2023-24 season?
The veteran player believes he is, per Fubo Sports via NBACentral.
“I’m a top 5 center in the league,” Turner said about his ranking.

The NBA is the best basketball league in the world, and evidently, it’s full of talented players from all around the globe.
Just making it to the NBA is a huge deal, but being one of the top-five players in the league for a specific position is an even bigger achievement.
Does Turner really fit into that criteria?
He averaged 18.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game for the Pacers during the 2022-23 season.
Turner also shot 54.8% from the field and 37.3% from downtown.
Despite these solid numbers, there are undoubtedly five better centers than Turner in the NBA.
The likes of Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Bam Adebayo, Domantas Sabonis, Deandre Ayton, and Karl-Anthony Towns are arguably better than Turner.
With that being said, Turner is definitely a perfect example of the skill set that a modern-day NBA center should possess to become an elite player in the league.
