Myles Turner of the Milwaukee Bucks got himself into a bit of hot water the other day.
He was asked about coming to the Bucks after years of playing for the Indiana Pacers, and Turner said, “I’m in a city now that wants to celebrate me. There’s a great quote that says ‘go where you’re celebrated. I feel like that’s here.”
That didn’t sit well with many Pacers fans, but now Turner is opening up about what he meant.
“This Quote Has NOTHING To Do With Indy Fans & EVERYTHING To Do With My Free Agency Experience,” Turner posted on X.

It’s not clear if Pacers fans will accept that statement, because they feel that Turner was making a dig at them.
He was a very loyal player during his years in Indiana, even as rumors seemed to always swirl around him.
Year after year, there were stories about the Pacers not being committed to Turner and open to the idea of losing him.
Those rumors faded away as the team got better, and they were nearly non-existent last season, especially as the Pacers stormed all the way to the Finals.
But Turner wanted a healthy extension from the team, and apparently, the Pacers weren’t willing to give it.
Because of that, he considered all of his options and ultimately chose to leave Indiana for one of their biggest opponents, the Bucks.
There was no way this was going to feel good for Indiana fans, but the recent quote from Turner only made it worse.
But he swears he wasn’t trying to insult the followers who celebrated him for years.
This will likely calm the waters, at least for now, until Milwaukee’s first game against Indiana.
