Mookie Betts put together a solid performance on Thursday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers faced off against the Atlanta Braves.
The veteran slugger and outfielder hit two home runs against the Braves.
Unfortunately, what he accomplished got lost in the wake of Ronald Acuna Jr.’s historic home run, who is the only player to hit 30 homers and steal 60 bases in a season.
But Betts currently owns an impressive record, and he continued to add to that record on Thursday as the Dodgers fell just short against the Braves.
It was Betts’ 26th multi-homer game out of the leadoff spot.
On Twitter, Sarah Langs posted a list of players with the most multi-homer games out of the leadoff spot, which shows Betts at the top.
most career multi-home run games out of leadoff spot:
Mookie Betts: 26
George Springer: 19
Alfonso Soriano: 19
Kyle Schwarber: 15
Brady Anderson: 14
Joc Pederson: 13
Bobby Bonds: 13 https://t.co/9IaO2sSU0G— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) September 1, 2023
Also on the list are players such as Alfonso Soriano, George Springer, Kyle Schwarber, Brady Anderson, Joc Pederson, and Bobby Bonds.
Soriano and Springer are tied for second on the list with 19 such games.
Schwarber and Anderson have 15 and 14, respectively, while Pederson and Bonds are tied for 13 such games.
But it’s Betts who stands alone at the top with 26 multi-homer games out of the top spot in the lineup.
His accomplishments will unfortunately be overshadowed by what Acuna was able to achieve on Thursday, but this is still a very impressive stat on behalf of the Dodgers slugger and former MVP.
Betts is a seven-time All-Star, five-time Silver Slugger, and a former batting champion.
With just a month left in the season, there is still some time for Betts to keep adding onto this impressive statistic.
