The best story of the MLB season came to the forefront on Monday night.
That was the return of Chicago White Sox closer Liam Hendriks.
The All-Star had not played at all this season as he was battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Hendriks was diagnosed with the illness in December and underwent chemotherapy throughout the offseason.
Seeing Hendriks back on the mound this soon was not something that many fans saw coming.
But it was great he was able to return in front of his home fans.
He is one of the top relief pitchers in MLB and the White Sox are glad to have him back.
You can’t tell me that there was a dry eye in the entire baseball world after seeing this. Such a great feel good story. 🙏👍. @whitesox

Adding Hendriks to the bullpen is a sight for sore eyes for White Sox fans.
Their team has been struggling all year long and they needed a spark.
It is hard to find a bigger spark than the one Hendriks provided on Monday night.
I got chills watching Liam😭😭😭 RESPECT 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡

The White Sox have a record of 22-34 on the year.
They sit seven games out of first place in the AL Central but still have time to turn their season around.
The #WhiteSox are having a dismal season, but it was so nice to see Liam Hendriks come back from battling cancer to pitch last night. Congrats to him on his comeback.

Defeating cancer is an achievement far greater than anything that may happen on a baseball field.
Hendriks is an inspiration to players and fans all around the league.
He gives hope to people that are battling cancer all over the world.
Simply special, so many amazing stories of resilience and bravery occurring on a day where we celebrate those exact values 👏🏻

Striking batters out is something Hendriks has always been great at on the mound.
But his striking out cancer is the best and most memorable strikeout he will have during his career.
